It is unknown when the city was first created, nor how many humans had "discovered" it prior to Neil Armstrong's moon landing.
Discovery of The Lost Pet City on The Moon[]
Upon landing on the moon for the first time, Neil Armstrong (and co-astronaut Lee Marvin) saw the city and the many pets peering through the windows. He was approached by a grey cat named Barbara Emmaline Quendaline Sauce, nicknamed Barb E.Q. Sauce, who came up to Neil and explained that this was their city. These are the lost pets of our world, who are lost because that is their choice. They came to the moon to be lost forever, and she continued to request he tells no one. When he immediately went to tell his co astronaut Lee Marvin about the town, he seemed to already know about it, and agreed that they should tell no one of the secret lost pet city on the moon.

Appearance[]
The houses on the moon are large, two story, sturdy houses with doors and windows. The town was camouflaged from above by grey and black mesh that made it appear through telescopes to be the surface of the moon.
