This is a story about them, says the man on the radio, and you are concerned, because this is not a story you were ever supposed to hear.
— Cecil

Plot Developments[]

  • Them: They appeared in 'A Story About You' and the miniature houses mentioned in this episode were being moved by a man that They took away. One of them is not short, and the other is not tall. There is a cycle that is suggested by Cecil, that everyone in Night Vale is eventually taken to this place in the desert where they replace one of the men.
  • The Underground City / The Crates: The war was started by Them and their ongoing theft of the houses of the underground city. They are stealing the houses and spreading them around to "further [their] interests".
  • StrexCorp Synernists Incorporated: Strexcorp's orange triangular logo is seen on a yellow tarp covering City Hall, suggesting that StrexCorp has taken control of City Hall.
  • Dana In The Dog Park A woman in a desert that is not confirmed to be Dana is walking. However, it is suggested that it is Dana, as she is accompanied by large masked figures and is wary of a light that is described as "a smiling god of terrible power and ceaseless appetite."
  • Cecil: Some insight is provided into Cecil's character and what he does and does not know. Cecil implies he does not understand much of what he says on the radio: "Even the man on the radio does not know why he changes the story, or where this other story comes from. He does not always understand everything he does. Sometimes he does understand, but he hides it from you," and "The man on the radio returns to the story about them. He does not know how he knew what he just said, or why he would tell it to you. He is innocent and kind."

  • Orange you glad I didn't say your mother's in the hospital. I'm sorry. I'm so sorry. Is there anything I can do? Listen. I'll drive you over there. We'll leave right now. Grab a coat; it's a little cold out. I'm so sorry.
